Hi Friends,

Today , I was checking my mother's Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and in sms app I got pop messages stating enable chat features. I accepted, clicked Ok and after few minutes, got another message stating chat features are enabled for Jio number.

Though default Samsung Messages app on my Note 10 Lite has settings for chat features , it doesn't work. So I downloaded Google Messages app and activated chat features.
Tested few things like typing indicator, sending images, location, recording and all worked well.

As of now working with Jio and Google Messages app. Also other person whom you are sending should also have Chat enabled on his/her phone.

If other person doesn't have chat/RCS enabled then normal SMS (text) message is sent.

Remember this is based on RCS standard which is kind of future of SMS, MMS.

I had used this on my LG V30+ few months back using some tricks shared on XDA forums.

Google has started pushing for greater implementation of this now with RCS rolled out on many operators and phones. With this we can use native messaging apps with some functionality of WhatsApp, telegram ,others.
I hope Samsung quickly fixes issues of RCS with their own messages app.

Please check on your phones by downloading Google Messages app. I tested with Jio but may be it's also supported on Airtel , Vi also.

Check following attached screenshots for your help/reference.

not only yours it works if other users device also supports RCS. Currently i checked with my A50s, M30s, S9 & S10 lite. no issues. Even devices like A51, A71, M21, M51 in friends circle works fine.

yes , I cross checked. I have Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 which has Google Messages by default as SMS app. When I send message to that via Google messages on my Note 10 Lite it works well.
But If I try sending via Samsung Messages app then it sends plain SMS.
Also my brother has Redmi K20 Pro, on that phone whether I use Google Messages or Default Messages app of MIUI , it can't use RCS.
Operator in all cases in Jio.

hmm, maybe samu messages has compatibility issues with other brands (usually using google stock messages or any ) and vice-versa. I have to comfirm with users having other brands.
Many of my friends and family has Samsung and no issues in RCS from Samsung to Samsung. As RCS is not yet implemented globally from brands Google messages is the only option but other user should have same.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Yes, all android based mobile companies, Google should fix this mess.
If they plan to compete with iMessage then this kind of issues are non sense.

Though I don't like iOS , I agree that whatever they give is polished, works mostly without issues, no hassles.
