Tech TalkRAM
Description: RAM stands for RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY. RAM is a device which is the junction between the HDD or SDD(storages) and your processer. It can be explained as the shortest and fastest pathway of data transfer to the processor from the storage. It holds your data for the time when you are working or modifying the file. RAMs come in sticks of varying sizes like 1 GB, 2 GB, 4GB, 8 GB etc.
Working: It simply stores the file in it with the user has opened and creates a link between the storage and processor. When you modify or work on it the data gets processed in the processor and simultaneously the RAM stores the modifications in it. When you are done with the file the RAM sends the modified version to the storage.
- DDR1
- DDR2
- DDR3
- DDR4
Basically DDR3 is the most common type which is installed in our devices. However most flagship devices are installed with DDR4 RAM.
Now let us talk about the LPDDR RAMS.
You might have seen somewhere written LPDDR3 or LPDDR4 RAM. This means 'Low Powered DDR3 or Low Powered DDR4 RAMS.' Most of our mobiles and laptops have LPDDR RAMS so that they consume less battery and phone or laptop gets a longer life.
What happens if your RAM gets full: Sometimes it happens that the memory or RAM has been loaded much and is full. In that case smart devices close(remove) one opened file or application so that your device does not crash and you can open another file or application.
In case of some other devices when the RAM gets filled up your device may crash or all the applications or files will be closed.
Which size of RAM is better for your device: You may always aim for the bigger RAM because with incoming updates everyday the size of files or applications are increasing. This means more space is needed by the application to get itself loaded in the RAM. A bigger and better RAM will always benefit you in the upcoming future.
Now here is a interesting thing. You know that you cannot change the RAM of your mobile phone. But you can do it for your computer. Thus while taking a bigger size of RAM for example 16 GB do not go for buying one stick of 16 GB. Rather you should go for purchasing four 4 GB RAM sticks. This will actually improve the speed of your computer. But do not take sixteen 1GB RAM sticks as they will not be able to store your large files or applications.
Which type of RAM should you take: This might be a very silly question. Today the most common RAM is DDR3 but the better option is DDR4 RAM- the one that you should go for. And DDR1 or DDR2 RAMS are not available in the market anymore.
I hope this much information is sufficient, however if any doubts still exist comment me below.
