My fingerprint scanner is not working did the basic troubleshoot 
Removed the cache done factory reset issue still persisted
Digged a little more and found no fingerprint system application to be there on the phone which is weird
May I know how come such an expensive samsung s20 give such a pathetic user experience
Also what is the fix

sometimes screen protector interfare it ...check ✔ that also

I had similar issues after I got the screen protector.
Now its much better after the below steps.
1. After you put on the screen protector/tempered glass set the fingerprints again.
2. Add multiple fingerprints of the same finger.

okay if protector is interfering how come the system application is not showing up .. there must be a fingerprint application for it to work

Since you have already done a factory reset you should visit the Service Center.

1) To improve recognition performance, register fingerprints of the hand used most often to perform tasks on the device.

 

2) The device may not recognize fingerprints that are affected by wrinkles, small or thin fingers.
