Checklist & Solutions for USB Storage Not Showing on S24

1. Confirm USB Drive Compatibility

Format: Your USB storage must be formatted in FAT32 or exFAT. NTFS is not supported by most Android devices.

Try the USB drive on a computer to confirm it's working and formatted correctly.

2. Check Your OTG Adapter

Ensure the USB-OTG adapter or USB-C hub is functioning properly.

Try connecting another USB device (mouse, keyboard, different USB drive) to test the adapter.

3. Enable OTG Support

Samsung doesn’t show a clear toggle for OTG in newer models, but:

Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery and ensure USB devices can connect while on battery saver.

Disable Battery Saver mode if it's on.

4. Try File Manager App

Open My Files > Tap USB Storage (if visible).

Or try a third-party file manager like X-plore or Solid Explorer, which sometimes detects USB devices even when My Files doesn’t.

5. Check for USB Options When Plugged In

Connect your USB drive.

Pull down the notification panel.

Look for a USB notification: “Charging this device via USB” → Tap it and select “File Transfer” or “USB controlled by this device”.

If no notification appears at all, that’s a sign of a hardware or cable issue.

6. Restart in Safe Mode

Sometimes apps interfere with USB access.

Press and hold the Power button, then tap and hold Power Off > Choose Safe Mode.

Now try plugging in the USB drive again.

7. Update Software

Go to Settings > Software update and install any available updates.

Samsung frequently fixes bugs related to USB and peripheral compatibility.
