Galaxy SWhen the infrared LED is activated, it can appear as four small squares or dots on the screen, especially against a white or light background. This is a common phenomenon and not a defect.
The flickering you're experiencing during calls is probably due to the proximity sensor constantly checking the distance between the phone and your ear. It's possible that the sensor is more sensitive or active during calls, causing the dots to flicker.
To confirm, you can try making a call in a well-lit area and see if the dots appear. If they do, it's likely the proximity sensor at work.

Galaxy SDear Samsung Member,
Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!
We would like to inform you that the four dots displayed at the top of your device are related to the proximity sensor. It is designed to turn the smartphone display black during calls, which is a standard feature built into the device.
If you have any further questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support
