Possible Causes
1. *Software glitches*: Temporary software issues or bugs might be affecting the proximity sensor.
2. *Hardware damage*: Physical damage to the sensor or surrounding area might be causing problems.
3. *Dust or debris*: Blockage of the sensor due to dust, dirt, or other debris might be interfering with its functionality.

Troubleshooting Steps
1. *Restart your phone*: Simple restarts can resolve software glitches.
2. *Clean the proximity sensor area*: Gently clean the area around the proximity sensor to ensure it's free from dust and debris.
3. *Check for software updates*: Ensure your phone is running the latest software.
4. *Calibrate the proximity sensor*: Some phones allow calibration of the proximity sensor; check your phone's settings.
5. *Visit a service center*: If issues persist, consider visiting an authorized service center for further assistance.

Additional Tips
1. *Use a screen protector*: A screen protector might help protect the proximity sensor from damage.
2. *Avoid physical damage*: Handle your phone with care to prevent physical damage to the proximity sensor.

If you're still experiencing issues, feel free to provide more details about your problem, and I'll do my best to help!

Hey! 👋 Yes, some users do face proximity sensor issues like screen not turning off during calls.

Try this:

1. 🔄 Restart your phone.

2. 🔧 Run diagnostics: Dial *#0*# > tap Sensor > check Proximity Sensor.

3. 🧹 Clean the top area near the front camera – dirt can block the sensor.

4. 📦 Safe Mode: Restart in Safe Mode to rule out third-party app issues.

5. 🆙 Update Software: Make sure your phone is up-to-date.

If it still doesn't work, visit a Samsung service center 🛠️.

how did you come to know of having problem with proximity sensors. Only a few phone models have hardware proximity sensors, hardware failure is rare, and hardware problems can only be fixed when having physical access of device at authorised service centre. Devices with virtual proximity sensors do not have dedicated hardware. There is no settings to disable proximity sensors.

Take a phone call, hold the handset to your ear and check if the screen turns off when held near the ear during the call.

to assist further we need to know, how you had performed the diagnosis, and exactly what error occurred.

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your concern, we want to inform you that your device has a Proximity sensor, It's located at the top of the phone, although the exact position will vary by model. Clean the front of the device with a clean, soft cloth. However, kindly perform the following steps to resolve your issue:

● Diagnosing issues with the proximity sensor from the Samsung Members app:
Step 1. Open the Samsung Members app and select Get Support at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2. Tap View tests located under Diagnostics.
Step 3. Select Proximity recognition to automatically begin diagnostics.
Step 4. Follow the on-screen directions and put your palms close to, but not touching the top of the screen.
Step 5. After finishing diagnostics, you can immediately check your device status results on your screen.

● Remove any accessories: Third-party protective films, cases, stickers, or glass screen protectors may block the sensor and should be removed. It is recommended to use Samsung Authorized accessories only.

In case the issue still occurs, please visit the service center for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service center with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/

Warm Regards,
