Here's you can enable your screen to wake up with notifications.
Settings > Notifications > Notifications Pop Up Style.
Set it to 'Detail' from 'Brief'.
Hope this helps. 🙏🏽

When I use Samsung Message App. It lights up. If this doesn't work for you then I am afraid you can't enable it any how as this toggle is not available. Anyway you can use a third party app called - Glimpse Notifications by Nullgrad Apps to get this functionality. Also there is an accessibility setting that flashes your screen when notifications come in (Only when your screen is already turned on). You can also set it to flash the rear flash (This works even when screen is off).
