Hi everyone,
I wanted to highlight an issue I've experienced that I feel many users might not be aware of, especially on devices with side-mounted or always-on display fingerprint sensors.

When putting the phone back into your pocket, it's very easy for your finger to accidentally touch the fingerprint sensor, which can unlock the phone without you realizing.
*Once unlocked inside the pocket, the screen can register random touches from your leg or clothing, leading to unwanted app activity.
* This can be especially a problem if apps like social media, camera, or messaging are opened accidentally, which may cause a bit of issues .

This could easily be avoided if the fingerprint sensor only activates after pressing the power button, or if Samsung set this behavior to default, there is a setting for this but many people dont understand this so it can be a default setting from samsung.

Would love to hear if others have faced this. It's a small tweak, but it can make a big difference in terms of privacy and usability.

Thanks!

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your query, we want to inform you that it is the normal concept of devices, when the screen touches clothes or skin and accidental touch protection is enabled on the device, the disabled would be turned on and some action will automatically happen. Same as the fingerprint sensor touches anything it misrecognizes due to unauthorised touch it will disappear for some minutes and again after some time will work as normal.

If still facing the issue, please follow these easy troubleshooting steps which may help in resolving this issue:

● Remove the screen protectors and cover from the device once and check the issue after restarting the device.

● Kindly enable accidental touch protection: Settings> Accidental protection> Turn on it.

● You can reset your device by following the steps.
1. Kindly create a data backup of your device via the SMART switch mobile application or http://www.samsung.com/in/support/smartswitch pc suite.
2. Remember the Google password before resetting the device because it is required during initial setup.
3. If you do not remember password then advise to reset (Forgot password) your Google account.

Path: Settings> General Management.>Reset>Temporary cloud backup or External storage backup>After backup tab on Factory data reset to reset your device to its factory default settings.
This will erase all data, including files and downloaded apps.

In case the issue still occurs, please visit the service center for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service center with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support

Hey thanks for the info, but i am actually asking that isnt it a better feature to set default setting of fingerprint sensor to be like this- you first have to press the power button and then only fingerprint sensor gets activated cause always activated Fingerprint sensor can cause accidental unlocks leading to accidental touches in pocket just wanted to ask this.Currently the default setting is Fingerprint always on if we want to change we have to change it from settings.
