Hello Members!

Have you ever wondered about the evolution of the Galaxy S Series? In this post, we shall talk about all thr S Series devices and their most notable features. Its not possible to cover every improvement in one post, so we shall only touch the most notable improvements/features. So, keep reading :)


2010: Galaxy S - The OG Galaxy S was released.

2011: Galaxy S2 - The Hummingbird (aka. Exynos 3), was replaced by the Exynos 4 Dual and the Snapdragon APQ8060.

2012: Galaxy S3 - The storage was bumped from 32 to 64 GB and it was the first even Galaxy device with wireless charging support.

2013: Galaxy S4 - Launched with an IR blaster (was a huge deal back in the day), had a plethora of UI changes and it had an unique model, the S4 Zoom, with a dedicated digital camera.

2014: Galaxy S5 - Adds a heart rate monitor, IP67 water resistance and a fingerprint sensor. It was the first Galaxy S to be able to record 4K videos.

2015: Galaxy S6 - Improves the S5 with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support, VR support and we can't forget the S6 Edge and Edge+' curved display, for the first time ever in the Galaxy S Series. 

2016: Galaxy S7 - Added Always On Display, f1.7 aperture (the brightest on any phone at that time) and improved low light photography.

2017: Galaxy S8 - First Galaxy S with a USB C port (3.0), an Iris scanner and an Infinity display. 

2018: Galaxy S9 - First Samsung device to support 4K60 video recording, first Samsung device to soprt a dual aperture camera.

2019: Galaxy S10 - 10th anniversary of Galaxy S. First Samsung device with an in-display fingerprint reader, 1TB of internal storage and dual front cameras and 5G.

2020: Galaxy S20 - First ever Samsung device to bring on a 100x zoom lens and a 108mp camera sensor, 120 Hz and SA 5G with mmWave support.

2021: Galaxy S21 - Improved the 108mp camera lens and added 8K video recording. Also added a 120 Hz adaptive display.

2022: Galaxy S22 - The S Pen debuts in the S Series, the first ever smartphone with a ray tracing capable APU (Exynos 2200) and a further improved camera system and overall design.
