DeX (Android) already supports most standard keyboard shortcuts. DeX has settings for custom keyboard shortcuts to lauch applications, too.

If you want more keyboard shortcuts in apps, then you need to send feedback to the app developers.

try the Key Mapper app

It works really well for me to map many action sequences, eg. https://youtu.be/NXBW_MclQ8Meg

Bring back linux(or replace it with windows) for dex on tablets, I kind of understand not having it on phones but a desktop mode that runs on a tablet is useless if it doesn’t have desktop applications.

The solution is to port desktop applications to Android, not introduce another OS entirely.

Allow DeX to run directly on the inner display of the Z Fold like Tab devices can. Hundreds of people have asked for it; it's the most liked thread on all of Samsung Members Canada: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-z/dex-on-fold-s-inner-display/td-p/13827668

Otherwise, here are a few more quick suggestions:

  • Democratize DeX by including it on every Galaxy device, from A to Z. It is counter-productive to make it exclusive to flagships when it could be doing real public good by enabling those in developing areas or in poor economic conditions to use their cheaper A series devices as a PC. This also incentivizes developers to produce more desktop-quality native Android applications as you achieve greater market saturation with Android desktop modes.
  • Integrate the Good Lock 5-app-limit bypass into DeX natively - this should not require Good Lock any longer. Likewise for high resolution support.
  • A clipboard UI that works in DeX without having to use the host device's screen. For example, pressing Meta+V should pop up a clipboard in the DeX UI.
  • Enable bypass charging when using DeX like you already have for games (currently bypass charging is restricted to games only for some silly reason).
  • Work with Microsoft to get the desktop version (or feature equivalent) of Office 365 natively on Android as you did with Luma Touch and LumaFusion.
  • Work with Microsoft to get Edge Browser to play videos in the background like Samsung Internet can so they don't pause when the browser is minimized.
  • Work with Microsoft to support Microsoft Authenticator password management in Samsung Internet.
  • Add extended display support so you can drag windows between the external screen and the screen of a connected Tab or Fold. Apple recently added this functionality to iPad when using Stage Manager on an external display and it drastically improved the experience in making the host device more useful as a display.
  • Work with and support Serif to bring the Affinity creative suite to Android natively.

I'd like to see a real desktop browser. OK, this also depends on the sites, but if the browser by default behaves like a desktop, then it won't get served crappy mobile site any more.

Furthermore mainly in the application landscape that many apps are so-so (I'm looking at the Outlook app here...) some ecouragement/support for the 3rd party developers on dex should help. (I use dex from my S22Ultra - maybe the experience on tablet is different)

Re: Browsers

Microsoft Edge does a good job of displaying desktop webpages dynamically - when using the inner display on my Fold or on DeX, I get the desktop sites, and then on the cover display of my Fold I get mobile sites.

Edge did this very well for a while, then it broke, and now it seems to be working well again...

Samsung should have dynamic user agent switching built into the Samsung Internet browser. In DeX it should default to a desktop user agent and on smaller screens default to mobile.

Beyond that, it should also have full extension support since it's Chromium based. Kiwi Browser does this, so there's no reason Samsung Internet can't.

I can recommend new ideas and functions for Samsung DeX. The most requested feature(according to several tech forums) that most people miss is that there is no option to change the orientation of the HDMI output. I also like to have this feature. It would be handy for a lot of use cases.

Secondly, I thibk it would be awesome if Samsung DeX would allow you to place widgets on the desktop. It would be sooo useful.

And the last:

It would be nice to change the theme color of Samsung DeX SystemUI not just the phone's UI.

I hope to see these features in future Samsung Dex versions...
