It looks like Pixel owners aren’t the only people with March update woes. Several Samsung Galaxy Note 9 users have been experiencing serious display issues since updating to March’s security patch.

Over on Samsung’s community forum, users have been reporting screen discoloration, heating issues, and lower display resolutions. This includes a green and yellow tint across their displays, grainy black lines when their devices’ brightness auto adapts at lower levels, and screen resolutions that randomly drop after handsets overheat.

Neither rebooting nor factory resetting the devices seems to fix the issues. Some users have reported that this may fix their devices temporarily, but the problems always return in time.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Samsung is being very helpful either. The company’s response so far has been to point the users toward a local service center. This would likely require users to pay out of pocket for a fix since many devices are out of warranty by now. This is also particularly difficult right now, given that many Samsung certified repair locations are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Plus, this issue is likely software related (it was introduced with a software update, after all), so there’s no telling if these issues can even be fixed at a service center.

Other than that, it doesn’t look like Samsung has an official fix lined up just yet. We hope to see the company roll out a patch to affected Galaxy Note 9 owners soon since the issues arose from the March security update and are not device owners’ faults.

Not only the note 9, my note 8 also had this problem with the last opdate on Android 9, but suddenly after leaving the device off for some hours the screen returned to normal, sometimes it returns but only for a few seconds.

The same issue started since yesterday (26/Apr). My Note 9 is also 1.5 years old.
Spent 70k rupees and it didn't last even for 2 years. Even cheap mobiles around 20k would easily last that 1.5 years.
Samsung is NO better than cheap chinese brands like the vivo, Xiaomi etc.
Cheating on customers spending on your so called premium models is a bad business. People should stop buying premium models unless they give a 3 year warranty. 1 year warranty even for a 10k phone and 90k is an act of fraud.

Bought a Note 9 and having this display issue erratically! This issue started after an update in 2020! 1 year later Samsung has done nothing to fix same! What a shame!! Poor customer service! Once they got your money buying their devices they don't care about you!
