Did you know that zinc oxide is better for blue LEDs than gallium nitride because gallium nitride has more defects per square centimeter? A lighting company called nichia in Japan failed to make a blue led, but someone built a modified version of the MOCVD machine and created gallium nitride blue LEDs and created p-type gallium nitride in the process by simply heating gallium nitride up!
