Hi,

I am unable to make or receive calls on my Jio Sim on my S21 5G phone. Data LTE is working OK and I could also see the LTE symbol in the notification bar. But voice calls are not working. Pls. help.

Edit: Airtel, Vodafone SIMs work well on the phone.

Oh I see I think as it's not Indian device there might be issue. Always buy Indian model in india.

VoLTE and wifi calling are disable in unlocked version from US, facing similar issues.

Thanks. It defeats the purpose of buying an unlocked phone to be able to use on international networks. Airtel and Vodafone SIMs are working on this phone though. Only JIO is having problem.

The problem you have with JIO only is that it only works on Volte. Airtel, Vodafone gave 2g support as well. Jio has only 4g and volte. Hence for calls, Airtel, vi switch to 2g to make calls, jio doesn't. It is because international unlocked phones have volte, wifi calling disabled.

Thank you. Do you know if it is a bug, or Samsung has always been keeping VoLTE disabled on international unlocked phones? I don't see such limitations on some other devices I have used in the past, mostly Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

It could be a limitation set my Samsung but I also believe it is at the software level. You can try contacting their service center maybe they know how to patch this? Similar to a patch for locked phones? You can give it a try because this is an unlocked version, there shouldn't be a problem. Similar logic applies when we move to other countries and use their sim. I remember for me wifi calling got enabled and disabled within few minutes on my device in Sweden.
