what the 2 5g icons mean in my s21 plus 5g
One is 5g in a filled in box which seems to be proper 5g. The other is 5g in a square which the user manual says is "LTE network connected in LTE network that includes the 5G network". What does that mean? When the icon is showing the phone is no faster than a poor 4g signal.

Firstly let me clear this that airtel can't implement carrier aggregation in 5G or 5G+ in your words, as Carrier Aggregation requires Standalone 5G architecture which airtel doesn't has. Airtel is using non standalone architecture in which it is using it's existing 4G infrastructure to deliver 5G. So basically it's a mix of 4G+5G network, not pure 5G as Jio...

Secondly now let me clear your doubts regarding fully white 5G icon & transparent 5G icon which is currently showing in your status bar. See the screenshot i attached about the two types of 5G icons. The first icon which is fully blacked out means that Currently your device is connected to 5G network. Second one which is transparent as the same as your status bar means that your device is currently connected to a 4G network not 5G. Now you might be wondering that if it's showing 5G then how it's connected to 4G yet. Just read working of the 2nd icon. It says, "LTE network connected in LTE network that includes the 5G network". This means that your current network has 5G, but the area where you're currently staying, 5G reception is weak that's why it's not able to connect to 5G at the moment. The transparent 5G icon will be blacked out completely & your phone will connect to 5G, when you move to a stronger 5G coverage area...

That is the reason why your daily data quota is getting used when you're having the transparent 5G icon, which means that device is currently connected to 4G. When you get that blacked out 5G icon that means at that particular moment you're connected to 5G network & you'll only get unlimited 5G data at that time.

I hope i cleared your doubts in the best way possible. If my information was helpful then do accept this as solution 🙂Screenshot_20231011_202159_Samsung Members.jpg

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your concern regarding the two icons of 5G, we want to inform you that the one that is totally black and shows your device is connected with 5G, and the one that is transparent shows " LTE network connected LTE network that includes the 5G network", which means the network includes the 4G and 5G both and this depends upon your network service provider.

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support
