This morning, out of nowhere, my Samsung S23 developed green and red lines on the display. Concerned, I immediately reached out to Samsung customer support via email and phone. Unfortunately, their response was frustrating.

The support agent told me that there’s no fix available except for a paid display replacement, which costs ₹11,600 + GST—even though this is clearly a quality issue. When I escalated the matter to a supervisor, he simply repeated, "We can’t do anything since your phone is out of warranty." When I pointed out that many users are reporting the same issue after the warranty period, the conversation got heated, and they disconnected the call.

My phone is just 1.5 years old, and now I’m forced to pay for an expensive repair despite investing ₹80,000 in this device. This feels like a scam—why do so many older Samsung flagships suddenly develop green and red lines when a new "S" series model is released? This seems like an intentional pattern.

Samsung claims to provide 4 years of security patches and OS updates, but what’s the point if the phone doesn’t even last 2 years without a major hardware issue? What’s the use of software updates when the display itself fails?

I trusted Samsung when I purchased this phone, but now I feel cheated. If a premium device can't last even two years without a major hardware failure, what does that say about its quality? Samsung needs to take responsibility for this issue instead of forcing customers to pay for their faults.

Has anyone else faced the same issue? Let’s raise awareness so Samsung acknowledges this problem!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your Samsung S23's display. You're not alone; several users have reported similar problems with green and red lines appearing on their screens, often after the warranty period has expired.

Understanding the Issue:

This phenomenon has been observed in various Samsung models, where users notice colored lines on their displays, sometimes following software updates or without any apparent trigger. The exact cause isn't officially confirmed, but it's speculated to be related to hardware defects or compatibility issues introduced by software changes.

Samsung's Response:

Historically, Samsung has addressed such issues on a case-by-case basis. In some regions, they've offered free screen replacements, especially when a significant number of users are affected. However, responses can vary based on location and specific circumstances.

Steps You Can Take:

Document the Issue: Take clear photos or videos showcasing the display problem.

Visit an Authorized Service Center: Even if your device is out of warranty, it's beneficial to have an official assessment. Technicians can provide detailed reports, which can be useful for escalation.

Escalate the Matter: If initial customer support interactions aren't fruitful, consider reaching out to higher-level support or consumer advocacy groups. In some cases, persistent follow-up has led to favorable resolutions for customers.

Share Your Experience: Posting on official forums, social media platforms, and tech communities can amplify the issue. A collective voice often prompts companies to acknowledge and address widespread problems.

Stay Informed: Monitor official Samsung communications and reputable tech news outlets for any updates or recall announcements related to this issue.

Preventive Measures for the Future:

Extended Warranty: Consider purchasing extended warranties for high-end devices to safeguard against potential post-warranty issues.

Community Feedback: Before making future purchases, research user experiences and reviews to identify any recurring problems with specific models.

I understand your frustration, especially given the investment in a premium device. By taking the steps outlined above and uniting with other affected users, there's a better chance of prompting Samsung to address this issue appropriately.
