S23 Ultra Keeps Switching to LTE Under Heavy Data Usage - Forced 5G Fails

I'm using an S23 Ultra, and I've noticed that whenever there's heavy data usage (like downloading large files via a hotspot), the phone automatically switches from 5G to LTE.

I tried forcing 5G using a 5G app, but when I do, the phone loses signal entirely, and the SIM gets disabled until I restart the device. This is frustrating because I rely on 5G for faster speeds, especially when tethering.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any solutions or settings I can tweak to fix this?

This issue affects all devices. Whenever your phone heats up while using 5G, it automatically switches to LTE. I have experienced this issue, including with foldables.

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

We regret to hear about your experience with our product. Please believe that this is not a usual occurrence.

We want to inform you that 5G service may not always be available depending on your mobile network provider, even in 5G areas.

Rest assured, your provider is working to improve 5G coverage. 5G devices work with both LTE and 5G, which may increase battery consumption and heat generation. When using power-intensive apps, your device may heat up, triggering an algorithm that limits performance and switches the connection to 4G.

This is normal to ensure device performance. If your device overheats, please let it cool down before use. It will automatically reconnect to 5G once safe temperatures are reached.

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support
