So, after updating my Samsung S23 to the latest and greatest One UI 7.0, guess what appeared out of nowhere? Two vertical lines right down the display. Yep, just like that—no drops, no damage, no drama. The phone is in really good condition with zero scratches, zero dents, and has been treated better than most newborns. Yet somehow, the screen decided it was done.

A Glitch That’s Become Tradition
Believe it or not, this isn’t new. This display issue has been around since the S20 series—and like a proud tradition, Samsung continues to pass it on to the newer models, including the S23 and even the S24. Legacy, but not the good kind.

5 Years of Updates, 2 Years of Hardware?
For a device that promises 5 years of software support, it’s almost ironic that the hardware struggles to last even 2. What's the point of long-term updates when basic components can't keep up?

Not an Isolated Case
When I went to the service center, it was clear I wasn’t alone—several others were there complaining about the exact same problem after Software Update. It’s widespread, and people are frustrated. Rightfully so.

Radio Silence
Reached out to official Samsung support via email—no response. Even posted on X (Twitter), where Samsung’s handle commented “We’ll reach out to you via DM.” Shockingly, or maybe not, no one actually followed up. If this is what "valuing customers" looks like, it's time to rethink the definition.

Time to Step Up
A responsible, customer-first brand would acknowledge this flaw and offerfree display replacements to affected users. It’s the least that can be done, especially when users have taken good care of their devices.

Come on, Samsung—let's not make screen defects part of the Galaxy experience.

Why don't you just get out of here? Does Samsung appoint you to do all these?

Tried these things already and we both know this is not gonna fix the issue. Suggest something that works or offer replacements acknowledging the issue is on the brand's side like you guys did it for S20 series. If free replacements are being offered for phones till S22 series then why not supporting the same for S23 series. Atleast have the courtesy to offer a callback from the Brand's side which hasn't happened yet even though I have contacted the Samsung helpline multiple times.

Post about your issue on X (formerly Twitter), tag Samsung India, and include a few well-known tech YouTubers. Then, call Samsung customer care and report the problem. They may initially say that a free replacement isn’t possible because the device is out of warranty — don’t give in. Be persistent and firmly explain that you’re requesting a free display replacement, especially since Samsung has already offered this solution for older models like the S22 series.

Ask them to escalate the issue to a higher-level executive, as the customer care representative might not be able to help beyond a point. If the issue gets escalated, stick to your points and repeat your request. Often, a sensible and understanding executive may offer you a free display replacement — you might only have to pay a service fee of around ₹650. That’s what happened in my case.

If none of this works and your phone is in good condition (no cracks, dents, or physical damage) and you have the bill, consider filing a complaint with the consumer court. That should push things forward. Try this and see if it helps 😇
