Galaxy SGreat purchase however, you should not have purchased an already about 2 years old phone as the processor will soon fall into obsolete category(within another 2-3 year). Now, since the processor is a couple of year outdated, try not to overuse or use the phone under rough circumstance like running too many apps.
Try to clear the RAM as often as possible.
Regarding the battery, try checking some youtube video on how to optimize your battery usage in order to squeeze the most out of it. Check some youtube videos to find the average screen on time battery usage and tally it with yours.
If the result is still unsatisfactory, please go to the nearest Samsung service center
