Tempered glass is used to prevent phone glass/display from breaking if phone falls. Not to prevent scratches. You decide, which is better. Replacing tempered glass which costs less than 500 when it breaks or replacing the whole display for 18k when display breaks.

Use decent quality one, ultra thin tempered glass available. Thick ones reduce sensitivity a little bit.
