My phone is overheating. It restarted by itself twice; both, yesterday and today - in all instances the phone was getting charged and I was on/got a call. It's 30+ months old.. may be time to change the battery.
Or could there be another reason?

True its cumbersome but once done it will bring only relief if you do it the right way.👌

All the best and don't worry. Your data will be intact if you follow rules. But since you said you have 200gb plus you have to manually copy all your folders to your pc. Samsung and Google both offer only 15gb free.

May be motherboard issue. Or else he need to flash the software from service center

No its not the issue with hardware. Before anything at least let him do the factory reset.👍

Guys check my post on heating, lagging and restarting frequently. What I did has made me a happy person again. Only solution take backup and reset phone to factory default. All glitches will go away.👍

I have a Note 9 a working horse. No more issues, getting 5.5 hours on screen time for a 3 year old phone before March security update got 7 plus hours on full charge. Still going strong on initial battery.🤪

This sounds encouraging. I have never factory reset this phone. Have some apprehensions like:

1. what data will I loose (and how to not loose any)?

2. How long is the process to backup, reset and then setting it up again?

3. Which is a best option for a backup?

4. Is there a risk that the backup fails (i have 270 GB data on my phone)?

etc.

Sync all your data to samsung cloud. Also sync backup to Google. Go to settings and under accounts and backup use samsung cloud. Under Google use backup. You can also use smartswitch to backup to pc.

All will be recovered. You can save videos, photos, media etc physically using smartswitch to your computer Good luck 👍

After the phone is reset, will the software be the latest version with all the security and other updates?
