Go to settings>lock screen and security>fingerprints then delete all the fingerprints and again add them after cleaning the home button and your finger. Keep your finger linearly on the home button and move your finger up and down. Do not place your finger at any angle just keep it straight.
By the way, it is normal there is an acceptance rate of fingerprint scanner which tells us how many times your finger will be recognised. And it should be about 80-90%.

This happened with me too, in the beginning.

I deleted all fingerprint records and re registered my fingerprint, this time making sure to do it from all possible angles, and all parts of my finger. Also I made sure to just add only one fingerprint.

Please try that and tell us how it went.

Hi, my fingerprint recognition and iris scanner works flawless in S8. you should delete your previous record and try again as Anmol mentioned. Hope it helps..

1. Make sure your fingerprint sensor is clean.
2. Remove existing fingerprint records.
3. Add multiple fingerprints of the same finger, try adding the prints the same way(same angle) you would unlock during use.
