Galaxy ASince Samsung doesn't provide a charging brick in the box, I used my laptop's thunderbolt port with the cable provided with the phone to charge it. It showed Fast charging ( which is 25Watt for this phone ) and from 13% battery it displayed 57min till full charge. My laptop was fully charged and was running on 130Watt Adapter and the thunderbolt port should also be able to transfer upto 100Watts. But, the phone took around 2.5hrs to go from 13% to 85%, and it displayed the wrong time remaining at every stage of charging.
Someone tell me what the issue is, and whether using my laptop to charge the phone is ok or not in the first place, and why does it shows fast charging, but then charges at the standard 10Watt speed.

Galaxy ADear Samsung Member,
Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!
As per your concern, we want to inform you that Samsung does not recommend charging devices through laptops, however, we would suggest you purchase a Samsung original charger for charging your device. kindly perform the following steps to resolve your issue.
Galaxy device slow charging issue: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/my-galaxy-device-is-not-fast-charging-how-do-i-fix...
Kindly follow the standard charging procedure. i.e. please charge the device in switched-off condition for 10 minutes.
Turn off Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.
Turn off unused functions like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and location settings when not using them: On the home screen swipe down the notification panel > Turn off Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and other connectivity features when not using them.
Kindly check if ''Multiple applications'' are running in the background of the device.
When running multiple applications, the processor processes more tasks and as a result, additional heat is released from the device. This happens with most electronic devices (even computers/laptops), including the devices of other manufacturers. Close all the background running apps when not using them.
Avoid usage of mobile phones during charging. Usage of the mobile phone when charging may cause slow charging issues. So we recommend you avoid the usage of the mobile phone while charging.
Update the software if available: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/samsung-galaxy-smartphone-how-to-update-software/
Reset your device: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/samsung-galaxy-mobile-how-to-perform-a-factory-res...
In case the issue still occurs, please visit the service center for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service center with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/
Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support

Galaxy AIf the charger is not provided in the box, then i should not be forced to purchase the charger provided by samsung.
Why does the phone display wrong time remaining is the real issue, why is that issue there and what should I do to fix it ( i am not gonna buy the samsung charger anytime soon ).
And if it is a software issue then please ask the devs to look into it.

Galaxy A10% to 80% shouldn't take more than 60minutes (+-5minutes) and the remaining 20% (which is 80% to 100%) should take around 35minutes.
i.e.
10% to 80% = 60min.
80% to 100% = 35min.
1. Make sure you've turned on "Fast Charging" (screenshot attached)
2. Use Original PD charger which can deliver 25 Watt power.
3. PD charger is recommended.

Galaxy AThe charging time that the phone shows while charging isn't 100% accurate, it's off by 5-10 minutes. But It does a fabulous work by providing an approximate time, 5min off is not a big deal, in my case.

Galaxy AThanks for providing some real info unlike the other comments. I have turned on fast charging, and when i connect it to laptop it shows fast charging, and time remaining is around 1 hour. But it took 2.5 hours. That is much more significant difference (almost like the difference in charging time of 10W and 25W charging, wonder if its a coincidene). What i wanted is, maybe its ok if the phone is not able to charge at 25W through the thunderbolt port, but atleast it should not be fooling me that it is charging at 25W, maybe thats some software bug, where samsung tries to identify charging speed based on what info it gets from the cable, instead of checking actually how much time does the phone to charge percent by percent like most laptops and windows does.
The thing with thunderbolt 4 is, it is PD capable upto 100Watts, and the cable i assume is obviously PD capable, so what is the problem in properly charging with that.

Galaxy AI also use My laptop to charge the phone (Sometimes) but unfortunately in this case Phone charges very slowly.
I think, laptop isn't for Fast Charging (atleast for Samsung Phones) so you should use a proper charger. I wish your issue will be resolved.
