Do you need to submit your smartphone for repairs at a service centre? Make sure you turn on Maintenance Mode so that the engineers/service personnel have no access to your personal and sensitive data.
How do you turn on Maintenance Mode? Easy!
Go to Settings > Device Care > Maintenance mode > Turn on. You can choose whether to create logs or not, based on the type of repair that needs to be done. Your phone will restart and maintenance mode will be enabled. Your PIN/password/pattern will be required to turn off maintenance mode.
*Maintenance mode is subject to availability and might not be available in some older devices.

Even if we turn on maintainence mode before giving our phone to service center, they are asking to turn it off. I didn't like that. Then what is the use of maintainance mode?
They cannot ask you to do that. If they ask you to do it, record a video the next time, they'll come to their senses once they see the camera. If they refuse repair because of maintenance mode, drop an email to "servicehead.in@samsung.com". That should solve your issue.
I would like to suggest use Smart Switch application here, means before you submit your phone to service centre make all your data backup using the smart switch cloud and then give your device to them incase they do formats your phone by anyhow then after your phonw gets done recover all your data using the cloud sync and you're good to go but keep in mind you media might not get backup so keep media backup in any memory card or on pc
That's a different story... if they need to reset the device before repairing or during repairing, they will inform you beforehand, the user can take a backup then. Maintenance mode is useless in that case, but it is useful in most other cases where there is no data loss.
