Ip68 can resist water to 1.5m for a 30mins

Can't say about the expiration but as far as I know, no manufacturer honors the warranty after water damage, even if the device is IP certified. So to be on the safer side, try to avoid water contact as much as possible.

Ip rating is to be considered as a safeguard against eventualities. No manufacturer will provide you warranty for water damage regardless of the IP rating. So there is no relevance of the rating getting void or not.
