Does smart switch flashes the firmware during One UI upgrade

I have this doubt for a very long time. When upgrading OS let's say from one ui 5.1 to one ui 6 via smart switch, does it take all the necessary backup of all the datas automatically and then flashes one ui 6 and replace all the apps and datas at its position.

Is it like factory rest process and restoring data which done by smart switch itself?

Yes i did that. It is possible but thine important thing is you need knowlege of smartswitch before using it.
