Tech TalkIf you want to know the version of app installed on your device, the best place to check it is here:
Settings/ Apps/ <choose the app you want>.
If your launcher supports it, then you also directly access this page by long pressing on the app icon and choosing the 'i' button.
Scroll down to the bottom to find the required info:
Alternatively, you can also click on Storage to find the same info. In some OSes, this is the only way to view the app version.
If you want to view the Store Page of the app, click here:
If your launcher supports it, then you also directly access this page by long pressing on the app icon and choosing the '<store>' button.
The app page will open in Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Store (or other stock App Store on your device), depending on where it was downloaded or last updated from.
WHY CAN'T THE APP STORES THEMSELVES BE USED TO VIEW THE APP VERSION?
That too can be done. But due to cache issues and/ or bugs, the Stores can give incorrect information.
For example, see the videos below which demonstrate how Google Play Store reports all apps are up-to-date, but Samsung Galaxy Store shows updates for those apps.
Hope you learnt something!
