samsung galaxy tab a7 2020 lagging while video playback in OTT platforms such as Netflix, amazon prime video and desney+ hotstar. Device is more than capable to run these things but it's still lagging. By the way nothing is running in the background and it still lags like crazy.its annoying problem please fix this problem ASAP.
For anyone with this issue, with stuttering live TV streaming that isn't due to poor network performance, it might be improved by forcing hardware GPU rendering for 2D content by enabling developer mode in the Android settings.
For Android 11 on the Galaxy Tab A7, open settings, go to About Tablet, go to Software Information, find Build Number and tap on it until it tells you that you are now a developer. Then, go back to the settings menu, you'll now see Developer options, tap on that. Scroll down to "Disable HW overlays", toggle it to the right to turn it on. Then open your streaming app and see if video is any smoother. You might need to redo this if you restart the tablet.
The only sort-of fix I've found is to lower the resolution to 240 -- presumably it can then buffer enough that the lag/stutter is barely noticeable. But, really Samsung, why are still having to f about with this in 2023?!
If you notice that your tablet freezes or becomes unresponsive often, you should check for software updates. Samsung regularly releases software updates. If your device seems to crash or freeze when you are using a certain app, first update the device's software to see if that fixes the issue.
