I have been a loyal Samsung user for the past 12 years. One of the main reasons I always chose Samsung over iPhone was because of the extra security and privacy features — especially the Secure Folder.
However, with the latest One UI 8 (Android 16) update, I noticed a change that seriously impacts my privacy. Earlier, the Secure Folder had an option to lock immediately after leaving the app. That was extremely useful and provided peace of mind, knowing that the folder closed automatically once I exited.
But now, that option has been replaced with “Lock Secure Folder after locking the screen”. This means the folder remains open as long as the phone screen is active, which is not acceptable for users like me who rely on maximum privacy and security.
This change has reduced my confidence in Samsung’s privacy-first approach. If this feature is not restored or improved, I might have to reconsider my choice and possibly switch to iPhone — something I never thought I would say after over a decade with Samsung.
Please bring back the option to lock Secure Folder immediately after leaving the app. It is an essential privacy feature for many of us.
I understand your concern. Secure Folder’s “lock immediately on exit” option is missing in One UI 8. I recommend submitting direct feedback via the Samsung Members app — that’s the fastest way Samsung considers feature restoration.
