Samsung Pay is just pointless in India. It doesn't make any sense here due to the ridiculous limitation with Bank support. It only supports 6 or 7 banks. Instead of tying up seperately with a handful of banks, in my opinion they should have gone straight to the sources, MasterCard, Visa and RuPay. That covers all banks, problem solved.

I would love to tap and pay with my phone, but my banks are not supported. I don't quite understand why they've kept things so limited in India. Samsung Pay can be developed to compete directly with GPay and PayTM. UPI and payment processing in India are HUGE opportunities in India.

They should really get their act together, or just kill the app and let it die in peace, because the way it is, it's too limited to be of much use to anyone, and it's just taking up space, RAM and battery on my phone because it can't even be disabled.

Does anyone else use this app extensively as a primary mode of payment? I'd love to hear your views!

1. Open the Gpay app
2. Click on profile icon located on top right corner
3. Under 'set up payment methods' select debit/credit cards
4. Add your card details
5. Enter otp...
6. Boom! Done

Note: Your current card should have NFC chip and your smartphone should NFC too (you can find it out in settings).
Everytime you wanna make a contact less payment just turn on NFC on your device and place the phone over the swiping machine, you don't even have to open the Gpay app once the card is added

I use Google pay's TAP AND PAY for my kotak bank and its quite reliable. Got my Samsung device yesterday and I have just finished adding my card to Samsung pay. Will probably try making payments tomorrow and see if it is as good as Google pay

I see no tap and pay option, and the tap and pay system settings only show Samsung pay and Paytm

Oh wait, I see it now. It doesn't support Paytm payments Bank cards, but it accepted my kotak card and now I see it in the tap and pay list. Thanks so much!

My pleasure.
It'll be a brand new experience to make wireless payments and its super fun to see people getting surprised everytime they see you making a payments using just your phone.
I use it in filling stations and restaurants and the reactions are very funny.

Tip: After adding the card just unlock the device and turn on NFC to make the payments and do ask the vendor if their machine supports WiFi (many won't understand the term NFC) or it won't work. Look for the NFC symbol on the POS MACHINE before making such payments.
