Others- Hello.
So I have been using an oldee version of the Samsung Music app (ver. 16.2.14.14) for a few year, and it jas workes perfectly fine.
However, recently I reset my Galaxy s9 to clear up junk files and storage, and redownloaded the apk file from a back up. The app generally works as it always has, but I cannot tap into anything within the 'ALBUMS' tab without the app crashing. Every other feature works just fine, and I cam play my music with no worry. It seems to be the Albums tab specificatley. I have never had this issue before, and I have been using this specific apk file for years.
May someome please assist me!
NOTE: Upgrading the app is not an option for me, as I am really attached to the Edge Lighting feture that plays with the music and to my knowledge all other newer versions of the app no longer supports that feature. I have also cleared the cache, unistalled and unistalled/redownloaded, but none of these have remedied the issue.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank You!

Others1. Check for Corrupt Album Data
Since the issue is limited to the Albums tab, it may be caused by a problematic album file or metadata.
Go to Samsung Music > Settings > Rescan Library to refresh the database.
If that doesn't help, try renaming or moving your music files temporarily and see if the app still crashes when entering the Albums tab.
2. Change Permissions
Sometimes after a reset, the app may not have proper access to your storage:
Settings > Apps > Samsung Music > Permissions > Allow Storage Access
3. Try an Older or Slightly Newer APK Version
Your backed-up APK might have been affected during the reset. Try downloading a fresh copy of the exact same version or one slightly newer but still supporting Edge Lighting (e.g., 16.2.16.**bleep**).
4. Check for System Conflicts
Since you're on an older device (Galaxy S9), newer system updates or the reset may have changed system libraries that the app depends on. If possible:
Disable Samsung Auto Optimization (Settings > Device Care > Auto Optimization).
Boot into Safe Mode and test the app (Press & hold Power > Tap & hold ‘Power Off’ > Select Safe Mode). If it works fine there, a third-party app might be interfering.
5. Last Resort - Use an Alternative App with Edge Lighting
If Samsung Music still crashes, you can try Poweramp or Musicolet and use an external Edge Lighting app like Edge Lighting+ from the Samsung Store.
Let me know how it goes!
