The second weekend of January felt like the end of me. It's been five years since our band was disbanded. And until last year I'd thought I'd achieved everything I ever wished for. Name, success, fame, riches, a loving wife, beautiful children of my blood - you name it. But who knew even after being successful in life, I'd fail in being a good family man.
Last year... I started getting suspicious of my wife. She'd be gone for about a month and come home only for a few days that turned to hours since the past few weeks. I didn't ask much since I thought it was a personal matter but things started going out of hand soon enough.
I noticed a similar men's perfume on her every time. She'd wear high necks even on warm days and didn't spend many nights at home or rather won't let me get close to her. She'd shout at me drunk and even slapped or threw things at me.
She asked me for space and I did give it to her but instead, she left the whole family behind without giving me a reason...
Now, don't call me a creep but I hired a detective to tail her only to find out the obvious. She was living with another man and a kid of probably eight or nine. All of that time I didn't ask or bring anything in front of her- I couldn't. I thought she'd tell me eventually.
But... she disappeared.
She didn't come back for Christmas... didn't come for New Year. It was okay for me, but... the kids? It killed me every time I lied to them. All those times I was there for them... alone because their mother was doodling with some other kid.
She finally came back this morning only to leave after packing her clothes, again. This had become a routine. She'd come early in the morning, pack clothes or other things she needed and leave, while I just watch as she walks away.
I couldn't resist it this time.
I was worried about the kids! So, I asked her... about everything - that man, the child--
