I dropped the idea of going to the bridge after all. I wasn't sure of myself, either. So I just let my legs take me away till they gave up.
I found an empty seat on a bench across the street. And as if seeing me alone, all the memories attacked me at once. All of it from the morning and all of the times the kids asked for her. The happy memories of us together were the ones that stabbed me the most.
My hands started to shake and as I had my eyes locked on my hands, I heard a faint melody. Probably someone was playing the guitar right across the street. It seems sad. I wanted to look but I hadn't it in me to lift my head. How many times have I cried already?
Shortly, I hear a voice, too. A girl. She was singing to the melody. It was sweet, her voice. Warm enough to melt the most inhumane of hearts.
"You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester But you liked her better, I wish I was heather~"
Though the sweetest, the voice carried sorrow. 'Maybe it's the song', many would think. But I knew how emotions trickle even within the sweetest melody.
My mind ran astray again with all the sorrow.
"Brighter than the blue skies, she's got you mesmerised While I cry. Why would you rather kiss me, I'm not as half as pretty~"
Right.
I'm not even good looking. Nor can I dance or sing romantic songs for my lover. Why would she?... I guess I understand her now, eh? I laughed lightly to ease away the pain.
I noticed the song was heading to its end. I wanted to know if it was a real one or just something they brewed up just now-- no, first, I wanted to know whom the sweet voice that had my mind drowning even more belonged to. I lifted my head and---
