"Oh! If it isn't my little chibi~ haha~", dad exclaimed seeing her as mom stole my tiny baby from my arms.
We went inside and as the clock hit nine, I stood up to go. While dad was busy with them, mom followed me. She asked me about her and... I couldn't say much. I just told her that she wanted a divorce and didn't want the kids.
Sometimes I hate how I couldn't lie or ignore her. She looked hurt too... All because of me. I lowered my head explaining all that.
"Joon-ah. I've known you since you were a kid. I know you gave it your best. It wasn't your fault." As if she understood everything, she never asked me to persuade Hyeseon or ask her to come back. Instead, she pulled me into her embrace.
This... I needed it right now. Tears started brimming in my eyes and soon the warm river flowed again. I hiccuped trying to pull them back when she started patting my back. With every pat, my hiccups faded as I let all of my tears flow away silently. I didn't need to resist in front of her.
"Everything will be fine. You, our angels, our family. I won't let anything happen to us. We'll move on together, son." I buried my head deeper into her shoulders as her voice melted all my pain away.
I stayed in her embrace for I don't know how long. She broke the hug when I'd finally calmed down.
"You don't have work today, do you? Where are you headed to then?" She's right, today's Sunday and I don't have much work. Just some modelling or advertisement films, probably. I don't know why I was going out but I thought I could use some fresh air.
"Yes, mom. I was just thinking of going to the bridge-- OWW!! Mom?" I winced as she hit me with her fragile fists. And with every fist, came a question.
"What? How can you leave me and your angels behind? Do you know how bad of a cook your dad is? He doesn't even help with the housework! Not everyone is devoted enough to get a degree in cooking for their children like you! Yet you wanna leave everything behind?!" Though they sound like small things and many people might take them as a joke, I could see her eyes getting moist. I stopped her as I heard her hiccups.
"Mom, mom, mom~" I grabbed her by her shoulders to calm her down (also to stop her from punching my back anymore. Those fragile fists still hurt!)
"I was saying I'm going to take strolls on the bridge since I have some photography to be done too! How could you even think about me leaving such a precious mom and my angels, hm?"
"You-", she choked.
"I'm fine, mom. I know you're hurt too. You don't have to put on a hard front. As you said, we're all together. And I won't ever be leaving you." I hugged her a bye as she smiled at me again.
