I previously had s20+ and recently got my s23+ but seems like s20+ had better colors than s23+ which is post three generation model. I checked it very carefully with other phones as well if you compare like galaxy fold etc. The colors there are more vivid and better looking. I even compared s23 ultra with s22 ultra and fold as well all previous generation phones had better colors than s23. (from Samsung store, I even asked the store guy and he couldn't amswer this but admit that previous gen had better colors). The difference is so much that when I side by side put s20+ and s23+, it feel s20+ is the newer phone and s23+ is older.

is this the reason because
Galaxy S23 uses OLED screen with new materials for higher power efficiency (https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s23-oled-new-materials-higher-power-efficiency/#:~:text=Accord....)

Then this is a major drawback for the whole s23 lineup and I am so not happy with this screen quality downgrade and would like to return my s23+.
- What do you guys think could be the reason?
- Can this be rectified in further updates
- What if they are not able to rectify since they have used new technology for display?

I have used all the possible settings and screen is on Vivid mode.

The S20+ has a 2k display(1440×3200) while the new S23+ got an inferior Full HD Display (1080×2340). You're getting a mid-range display in a flagship phone. The 2K display is only for S23 Ultra. Nothing can solve this difference.
Its now S23 Ultra or nothing!!

You are absolutely wrong here!
My friend has s23 Ultra as well and I have compared it with s20+ and fold and other flagships. s23+ and s23 Ultra have same kind of display with dull colours and nowhere near previous flagships like s22+ or s20+ which we are discussing in this thread.

So its not about the resolution its about the colour calibrations and vividness. read the description again. @GeoCherian

From your explanation, its evident that you're not aware of the correlation between screen resolution to colour depth and what colour optimisation actually does.
So let me get some basics straight for you.

Resolution is the HEIGHT times WIDTH (in number of pixels). So its total number of pixels available to put out colours to the eye.

Color depth, also called bit-depth, is the number of bits per pixel. If you have a 1-bit image, this means you have 2^1 = 2 color choices for each pixel. If it’s a 24-bit image, you hence have 2^24 = 16,777,216 color choices per pixel.

When a same 24 bit image is displayed on 2k and Full HD resolution displays, its definitely better on the larger resolution display, as the lack of pixels in latter compress the image according to its capability than the former.
Hence, the more the number of pixels, more the colours.

All that optimisations does is tweak different variables of the screen between upper and lower limits. It cannot give the screen any wings like the Rebull ad says!

Like I said, Its same problem with s23 ultra.
"The 2K display is only for S23 Ultra. Nothing can solve this difference.

even though it has the resolution what you say its has got the same problem which clearly tells thats not the culprit.

Same issue, I have recently purchased s23+ by trading s21 FE. I see a huge difference between two screens, s23 plus screen looked washed out when compared to s21 FE.

No such update given to s23U hence no such update for s24U as well I think.
