I switched from OnePlus (after using it for six years) to the Samsung S24 Ultra. Initially, I was excited about all the fancy hardware—camera zoom, S Pen, AI features, etc. But over time, I realized OnePlus offers several practical flagship-level features that Samsung lacks.
Key Differences Between OnePlus UI and Samsung UI:
Fast Charging
Samsung: Takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to fully charge.
OnePlus: Charges fully in just 45 minutes—a huge time-saver.
Network Speed Display
Samsung: No built-in option; you need a third-party app to check real-time network speed.
OnePlus: Has a built-in network speed indicator right in the status bar.
Smart Call Back Feature (Dual SIM Users)
Samsung: Manually select SIM for every call, which can be annoying.
OnePlus: Automatically chooses the correct SIM by detecting which one was used for the last call with that contact.
Hidden Apps Access
Samsung: To open hidden apps, you must go to Secure Folder (which is visible), unhide apps, open via Play Store, or search in settings—a lengthy process.
OnePlus: Just dial a code from the call keypad, and all hidden apps appear instantly, without unhiding them.
Gestures on Lock Screen
Samsung: No such feature.
OnePlus: Even when locked, you can draw gestures (like ‘V’ for a flashlight, ‘O’ for a camera, etc.) to quickly launch specific apps or functions.
Alert Slider (Profile Switch)
Samsung: No dedicated hardware switch for sound profiles.
OnePlus: Alert Slider lets you switch between Silent, Vibrate, and Ring instantly—one of the most used and missed features.
Better RAM Management
Samsung: Despite having top-tier hardware, aggressive background app killing sometimes affects multitasking.
OnePlus: OxygenOS handles background apps better, keeping more apps running smoothly in the background.
Bloatware & Ads
Samsung: Ships with pre-installed bloatware, unnecessary apps, and sometimes ads in stock apps.
OnePlus: OxygenOS is cleaner, with minimal bloat and no ads.
App Cloning (Parallel Apps)
Samsung: Supports app cloning but only for a few selected apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.
OnePlus: Lets you clone almost any app without restrictions.
File Transfer Speed (USB & Wi-Fi)
Samsung: Slower file transfer speeds via USB or Wi-Fi Direct.
OnePlus: Much faster file transfers, especially with OxygenOS's optimized file-sharing features.
Final Thought
I wish I could get Samsung’s hardware with OnePlus’ OS. The One UI experience, while polished, still lacks the convenience and fluidity that OnePlus provides.
It's even not that important. What's important is once you have triggered the zen mode you can't deactivate it in any case which restricts phone usage 😊
