On device voicemail is available in OneUI 8.5. We can enable automatic voicemail answering if the call is not picked up within certain duration: which is great for dealing with spam calls. The system plays a voice in english saying "the user is busy and you can record after the beep". The call log screen shows a voicemail icon, and you can play the recorded voice. But the system has certain drawbacks: 1. Even being processed completely on device, your mobile carrier need to 'enable' this feature. Otherwise the settings will not be enabled. I don't understand what is the dependency on mobile network: in India most of the networks don't enable that.
2. The answering language is English only. In India, it would have been more helpful if regional languages were available. Most of the time people disconnects the call when the english only greetings starts playing
