I discovered a serious security issue that affects all Samsung Galaxy devices (S24 included), and I think we need to push Samsung to fix this in One UI 7 or the next software update.

Here’s the problem:

When your phone is locked, you can’t shut it down without unlocking it — which is great.

But if someone holds Power + Volume buttons, they can reboot into recovery mode, do a factory reset, and wipe your phone without entering a password or PIN.

🔴 This means:

Find My Mobile, Google Find My Device, and Offline Finding all stop working

Your data is wiped

The phone becomes untraceable — even if FRP (Factory Reset Protection) is on, most thieves don’t care because they resell parts or flash it

📌 iPhones already block factory reset without authentication — why can’t Samsung do this?

What we’re asking Samsung to do:

Add a setting in Secure Lock Settings to:

Block recovery access unless the phone is unlocked, OR

Require the device PIN/password before allowing factory reset from recovery

If enough people ask, Samsung can and will add this. They’ve already added lock-screen shutdown protection — this is the next logical step.

But you can't turn off phone without PIN when locked. Moreover you need a pc to go to recovery mode. However, it is a good suggestion for Samsung

Even though recovery mode now needs USB connection, a thief can still reset the phone from recovery without entering a PIN
