  • Hello,

It seems the device has been subjected to rooting attempt. Either purposely, or by installing a malware app that attempted to root the device.
In both cases, the Warranty Bit gets tripped.
To find out, we need to check whether the Warranty Bit has tripped, follow these steps:
    1- Power off your device.
2- Once off, simultaneously press the volume down, home/Bixby button, and power button.
3- When warning screen is displayed, press the volume up button.
4- The Warranty Bit status is displayed in upper left hand corner (usually in Grey color)

If the Warranty Bit is tripped, the device displays WARRANTY VOID: 1
If that is the case, there is no way to revert the Warranty Bit and Samsung Pass won't work on this device. The only way to get the device back to its original settings is to replace the PBA (Printed Board Assembly) on the device; hardware replacement will be required

If device displays Knox WARRANTY VOID: 0, then I recommend the user to Factory Reset the device and check again.

If still in doubt, you can check with a local authorized service center.
