Pretty dark around here, now.
Dark clouds and thunders, bolts across the skies.
Had to set ISO all the way up to 4000.
Grains in image are a result of that.

Any suggestions on capturing lightning and camera settings?

You need to lower the iso and increase the shutter speed.

Higher the iso higher the grains, because iso lights up all image grains

On the other hand shutter speed captures the more light.

So for a good night photography, high shutter speed low iso

if you want to capture the lightning strike, you have to keep the shutter open for a long time.

since the shutter is open for a long time, ...lot of light gets captured and even the entire lightning strike also gets captured

you can keep the ISO to minimum, don't have to worry about that as the images gets brighter due to longer shutter speeds

just play with the shutter speed settings until you get a decent shot.

if you have manual focus option, then set the focus to infinity so that the lightning will be in focus

Pro tip! Try to use higher shutter speeds instead of maxing up ISO. Set the focus to infinity and adjust contrast as per needs (optional, not recommended for dimly lit areas). That's it for basics of capturing lightning strikes.

After you've done that, adjust the shutter speed according to needs. Don't go changing around ISO that much, it will just artificially brighten the photo, and will cause grains. The longer the shutter speed, the brighter the image, hence ISO should be set to a very low value.

Of course it takes trial and error to reach the sweet spot, based on the lighting conditions of the surroundings, but this will give you way better results! Do try it out and share your results!
