Some Samsung Galaxy S20 series units are continuously getting affected by a “line-on display issue” even without any kind of external damage or signs of water. Well, Samsung has reportedly started repairing Galaxy S20 for free affected by a “line on display” issue.

According to a banner shared by a user on Reddit, Samsung India issued specific repairing guidelines regarding free-of-cost screen replacement of the Galaxy S20+ models (SM-G986B) having a line on display defect. It mentions “guide/educate all service engineers about the FOC screen replacement policy”.

Following this, the Galaxy S20+ smartphone consumers with a “line on display” defect can visit the nearby Samsung service center and let them know about the issue. The engineers should accept your request of replacing the display of the affected model free of cost.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung is currently repairing only the Galaxy S20+ models having the mentioned screen defect. However, there’s no information about the other two variants – Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Ultra, well, those devices might not be having such issues.

In the guideline document, Samsung noted that it is repairing the Galaxy S20+ screens for only one time free of cost replacement as there’re no signs of external damage of water insertion through ports. Impressively, devices out of warranty will also be repaired for free, but only for one time until December 31st.

Aside from India, we haven’t seen such kind of guideline or notification from Samsung or consumers regarding the replacement of the Galaxy S20+ screens. You can check Samsung India’s statement (mentioned in the document image shared by user) below.

“To support the customers, it is decided to consider this (line on display) issue for only one time FOC (free of cost) replacement of OCTA assembly along with Battery in above said (Galaxy S20+ 5G) until 31st December 2022.”
