First backup whatever is reachable in your SD card...
.
Now I think maybe your SD card is old or it's read-write cycle is over or something is corrupted or could be effected by some virus, so getting a new SD card is better option.
.
Now you can experiment with some data recovery tools and try to recover whatever data can be recovered.
.
After recovery try to fully format (on windows uncheck Quick Format while formatting) the SD card. And see if 56GB is available or not.
