I bought an S24 Ultra on April 12th 2024 and as soon as I started using the phone I started facing severe eye pain and headache.
Prior to this I was using Nothing Phone 2 and I have never faced this kind of eye pain/headache while using it.

I went through various online forums and have seen few people experiencing similar eye pain and headache issues while using the S24 Ultra (Reference -https://www.reddit.com/r/PWM_Sensitive/s/2nGFgaOYCDhttps://www.reddit.com/r/PWM_Sensitive/s/uvNmacscE5).
I even tried using the S24 ultra by turning on ‘Eye Comfort Shield’, ‘Adaptive colour tone’, ‘Natural’ screen mode (instead of Vivid mode), FHD+ resolution etc; but none of this helped.

After going through these links, I understood that the S24 Ultra has a lower PWM value (492 Hz) display which is the root cause for my eye pain and headache. The Nothing Phone 2 has a PWM close to 2000Hz and hence doesn't cause eye pain/headache while using it.

Hence I submitted my S24 Ultra phone to the Samsung service center on April 29th and my case was transferred to the Head office.

I don’t know who all inspected the device and what was inspected; after writing multiple emails daily, waiting and talking on call for hours daily to get a status, being given false information and promises; I was bluntly told by head office that neither a replacement or return would be possible and the product is working fine absolutely.

I never agreed to this and again provided them additonal proofs/links (as shown below including community links of other countries) explaining the issues caused due to lower PWM.

Even after providing all these details, its been 3 months as of today (the phone was in the service center for 3 months, from April 29th till today) and they are not bothered to listen and understand that this whole lower PWM value is a major design flaw of S24 Ultra and not concerned to only my device and is the root cause for eye pain/headache.😡

They have stopped replying to my emails and not willing to provide me a refund; as further using this phone would surely have an irreparable impact on my eyesight.

I am completely devastated and feel that I have been cheated of my hard earned money (Rs 100000 +).😢😡

After spending hours daily for more than 3 months on Customer Care, Service Center and Head Office - highlighting my issue and the health hazard it would cause; I am very very annoyed at the resolution of this issue and feel cheated.
Just running some software tests on the phone and saying hardware is perfect and same as Apple; clearly shows the stubbornness and unwillingness of Samsung to understand customer issues deeply, support them properly and accept them.
It is also a big failure on Samsung in providing a resolution which would be beneficial for the customer and doesn’t make him feel cheated of his invested money and doesn’t make him feel pressurized as part of the support process.

This whole process has been mentally tiresome and stressful and above all they dont provide any proofs of the analysis and tests carried out and blindly force us to accept whatever they say which is the worst.

I dont know what more I need to do; to get my hard earned money back from these people.

NEVER BUYING SAMSUNG AND NEVER EVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT.😡😡

PLEASE SHARE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE SO THAT PEOPLE COME TO KNOW ABOUT THESE ISSUES.

Iam also posted the same issue on this community forum. Samsung didn't think about consumer health.
Better to avoid eye irritation & head pain please use darker pro dimming app. This olny the option for samsung amoled users.

They need to provide higher PWM value screen. Most phones and even cheaper phones these days are providing higher PWM screens. We are paying lakhs of rupees for buying Samsung premium smartphones and they don't provide basic good hardware. These dimming apps are for workarounds which I don't prefer to use. If Samsung can't provide higher PWM screens better not to charge such a premium.

Yes i agreed your point. Iam already injured & medication for severe head pain causing display pwm.
Now darker pro is my life saver app. This only the app not to deviate the picture quality of my s21ultra 😔. Samsung not about this issue. Better we should change good Chinese phones.

Why didn't you raise this issue with Samsung? Why didn't you ask for refund?

Why we need to use Samsung phones if they cause eye strain due to low quality screen even after paying so much money?

Chinese phones are so forward and Samsung is so arrogant in regards to any improvement.

I know. Samsung support is pathetic and that's why I have been struggling to get a refund even after fighting for 3 months now.

Most of the people like to consider for samsung is its display picture quality. Dimming & pwm cause reduces accuracy of colors, shades & darkness so i think may be samsung not compromise the picture quality of their amoled devices

Nothing like that. Smartphones from One plus and Huawei have higher PWM values and have excellent displays with no reduction in accuracy. Samsung is only behind providing brighter screens and ignoring issues caused by PWM which is not acceptable.
