Galaxy STo resolve this issue, you can try the following:
- *Check your network settings*: Ensure that 5G is enabled and selected as the preferred network type. You can do this by going to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode.
- *Use the hidden testing menu*: Dial _#_#4636#_#_ to access the testing menu, then select Phone information and scroll down to Set preferred network type. Choose NR Only (5G Only) from the dropdown menu.
- *Install a third-party app*: Apps like NetMonitor or 5G/4G Force LTE can help you lock your phone to 5G only. However, be cautious when using these apps, as they may cause network issues or affect call quality.
- *Check for software updates*: Ensure your phone is running the latest software version, as updates often resolve network-related issues.
- *Reset your network settings*: Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings to restore your network settings to their default values.
Keep in mind that forcing your phone to use 5G only can affect network reception and call quality, especially in areas with limited 5G coverage.

Galaxy SWhy it Happens:
* Network Congestion: When you're using a large amount of data, especially through tethering, it can strain the 5G network in your area. To prevent network overload and ensure fair data access for all users, your carrier might automatically switch your connection to LTE.
* Signal Strength: 5G signals are generally more sensitive to interference and obstructions than LTE signals. If your 5G signal weakens during heavy data usage, your phone might automatically switch to the more stable LTE network.
* Phone's Thermal Management: High data usage can generate heat in your phone. To prevent overheating, your phone might prioritize heat dissipation by switching to LTE, which consumes less power and generates less heat than 5G.
* Carrier Throttling: Some carriers have data usage thresholds. If you exceed these limits, they might throttle your connection, which can cause your phone to switch to LTE.
Potential Solutions:
* Check Network Coverage: Ensure you're in an area with strong 5G coverage. Use a network speed test app to check your download and upload speeds on both 5G and LTE.
* Restart Your Phone: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary network glitches and improve signal stability.
* Contact Your Carrier: Explain the issue to your carrier's customer support. They might be able to provide insights into network congestion in your area or offer solutions like a data booster or a higher data plan.
* Optimize Data Usage: Consider reducing data usage during peak hours or when tethering. You can also prioritize data-intensive tasks for times when you're connected to Wi-Fi.
* Consider a 5G Booster: If you frequently experience weak 5G signals, a 5G signal booster might improve your connection strength.
Important Note:
* Forcing 5G using third-party apps can sometimes interfere with your phone's network settings and cause unexpected behavior, such as the SIM getting disabled. It's generally recommended to avoid using such apps unless you know what you're doing.
I hope these tips help you resolve the 5G switching issue and enjoy faster speeds on your S23 Ultra!
