I bought this phone last week (exynos 990 version) directly from Samsung.

I got to say , it has a very weak battery life and phone gets very hot after few minutes of using the camera / watching YouTube / video call.

Really disappointed with my purchases. I even tried reducing the screen refresh rate , switching on battery optimization, disabling background data consumptions and all the other things that can be done through settings.
But the result is still the same.

Why Samsung can't issue an software update to improve system power consumption performance to reduce heating and battery drainage? ( I don't mind an option to reduce the CPU frequency to 50% even, as long above issues can be fixed)

Same processor, same issue. :)  Why cant they give us a software update for this.

Faulty processor. fine you can't change that now... but at least do something which can be done... rgt?

A software update won't probably solve this issue, as the Exynos chipset by itself is very heat inefficient. If possible try to use the adaptive power mode for a few more days and let the system analyse your usage patterns. Not sure if this is a feature on the S20+ but I have it on my note 20 ultra. Temps have gotten better, but the heating issue I think will always be there.

Well I hope for the best.. You may not get this issue that much because you are using S20 Ultra with 5000mh. Anyway hope they will do something. Otherwise many who disappointed with this issue would never buy a Samsung phone again and won't recommend it to anyone.

im facing this heating issue while using camera for long time..

Me too dude. its like using a phone with a 1000mh battery. Here it is 80% and after doing 5 minutes shooting it is 70% or less. Then after that you anyway cant use the phone because of the heat.

Maybe your unit issue, i dint face any heating or battery drain issue till now after October 30th update. I had some small issues like device gets warm a bit or once it went above 41 degrees. Last update fixed that issue for me. Its been two weeks and i havent noticed any such issues, device is cool. Even battery life is decent, i get a days battery life with 120hz all the time. Watching YouTube for long time, its obvious any device would get warm a bit. Even oneplus 7T which has sd855+ gets warm or heat up a bit after you watch a lot of YouTube

Samsung really needs to focus on software and hardware blend. Paying such a premium price only to have things disabled or throttled makes no sense.
