This is mostly for the Indian Samsung users.

so my Galaxy S22 randomly has a pinkish vertical line on the display right beside the camera. I believe it was down to the OneUI 6.1 update.
I visited the nearby authorised service centre, and was told that though they provide free screen replacements even for Out of Warranty S21, S23, S24, even A Series devices, but since my Phone isnt on their list, they will be charging me for a screen replacement.
Wildly the amount theyre quoting for the fix is equal to the current market value of the device itself.

It is especially worrying since S22 has been their most hated phone in the recent years and this is a widespread issue too apparently.

I doubt it is only going to get worse.
I was planning to upgrade with S25, but I guess that wouldnt happen. Being a loyal Samsung guy for more than a decade and a half now, I guess Ill have to move elsewhere.

Anyone else with S22 had a similar issue? What did you do? Can Consumer Forum help with it?

update: I got my display repaired. The consumer forum helped bring the cost down to 2.2k from original 12k.
They did mess up my telephoto camera though.

I understand there are reports that Samsung offers free replacements for screens with horizontal lines, but not for those with vertical lines, and that the response may vary depending on the type of line presented.

For that matter any phone which has started this malfunction due to software update pushed by the company should be eligible for free replacement. This problem was induced by them and morally and legally they should be bound to provide the solution.
