MIC not working properly in S24 Ultra

I bought the S24 Ultra about a month ago, and everything was working perfectly fine until a few days ago. I believe the issue started after the June patch update.

The problem is with the mic not working in social media apps like WhatsApp and Facebook. It also doesn’t work in the Voice Recorder app. However, it works fine during voice calls and video recording.

While trying to record voice, I only hear some buzzing/static noises — not my actual voice.
I ran the Samsung diagnostics tool, and it shows that the primary mic isn’t working, but the secondary mic works. I’ve already tried restarting the device and even booting into safe mode, but nothing helped.

I’ve seen other users report the same issue on both Samsung Members and Reddit, but I haven’t found a fix that worked for my case yet.

It really seems like a software bug introduced in the latest update.
Has anyone found a reliable solution for this?

Also, do I need to visit a service center for this? I have Samsung Care+ for one year (came with the phone when I bought it) — can someone explain how that works and whether this issue would be covered?

Appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Common Fixes That Might Help

1. Disable Voice Wake-Up (Bixby/Google Assistant)

Although this issue often affects video recording, some users report disabling these features improves voice-only recording too.

> “UPDATE: This issue is caused by Bixby voice wake-up or google assistant. If you have the same issue try disabling voice activation from either one and it should work perfectly.”

To try:

Go to Settings → Bixby Voice and turn off “Voice wake-up.”

Also check Google Assistant settings to disable voice activation.

2. Wipe Cache Partition

Samsung supports this method after updates:

> “If you haven't tried to perform Wipe cache partition on your device... try Booting into Recovery Wiping Cache partition.”

Steps:

1. Power off.

2. Hold Volume Up + Power to enter Recovery.

3. Choose Wipe cache partition, confirm, then reboot.

3. Reset Mic Settings & Permissions

Some users fixed it by resetting settings or updating permissions.

Reset app preferences:
Settings → Apps → ⋮ → Reset app preferences

Reset microphone permissions:
Settings → Privacy → Permission manager → Microphone

Clear Voice Recorder app cache/data:
Settings → Apps → Voice Recorder → Storage

These are suggested fixes based on user guidance .

4. Factory Reset

As a last resort:
Back up your data → Settings → General management → Reset → Factory data reset.

Several reports indicate even resetting all settings helped .

Does Samsung have such a bad display inside the S24 Ultra, which is a common problem if it breaks?
