Edit: It was an Instagram bug, updated Instagram and since then the battery consumption has been normal. Check comments for consumption chart.

Hello Samsung Bros,

I recently updated Instagram (on 5th March) to the latest version on my S24 Ultra and since then it has literally been consuming my battery like a demon.

As you can see the images I have uploaded Battery consumption graph of 1st March, the day (before updating Instagram) of using my phone the way I normally use.
But after updating, you can see the drop in the graph of battery consumption for 6th and 7th and March. Even using the phone the way I normally use, the battery has started to fall below 10%.

Also attaching screenshots of how different apps are consuming the battery. BGMI being a graphic as well processor heavy game consumed only 8%. Facebook, another Meta app consumed only 3% for 30 mins of use.
Whereas Instagram for 2 hour 20 min of use, consumed more than 30%. That clearly shows it's some issue with Instagram as other apps are consuming normal battery.
Also note, the Background usage of Instagram is normal. Nothing off the charts.

Need your help as to understand as to what is causing this? Are any other S24 Ultra users facing this issue? Is there a solution to it? Do I need to do something or Instagram/Android/OneUi will take care of it in the next updated?

Thanks in advance.

Instagram is not optimised for new android update.

Wait for Instagram update, till put Instagram to deep sleep mode.

Clear cache and data of insta then delete insta.
Reinstall and you will be fine.

Forgot to mention that, did that as well immediately after realising Instagram is sucking the battery. Didn't really help.
