For daily based need you can use optimized mode to save your battery life, this mode balance your performance and battery life.
Optimized mode also monitors how you use your device and it will make recommendations after a while to put some apps or services to sleep.
In high performance mode screen resolution set to maximum ( WQHD+) with increased brightness , no limit on the CPU i.e., it increases 30% of CPU. This mode uses the battery more as compared to optimized mode .
Conclusion : You can use the optimized mode for daily use and if you want to play games then at that time you can change it to high performance mode while playing games for amazing experience.
Hope you are satisfied with my response, if yes then please accept it as solution by clicking the 3 vertical dots of my comment to help others .

Yes High Performance is best if you want no lags and fast response times, but it's at the expense of battery life.
