Obviously, your devices' display is a 1440p one, so even if you play a 4K video, it will still play at 1440p. That's the highest resolution.

That doesn't mean the phone shouldn't play the video! 4k60 videos does play on YouTube for almost all phones regardless of the display configuration.
So, according to your argument, 4k videos shot on s22ultra shouldn't play on s22ultra?

Nb: It's a well known thing that even if the phones won't support 4k, the 4k videos on YouTube and other platforms offer slightly better video and audio quality (especially audio) compared to 1080p.

Seems like you didn't get what I was saying. I never said that the phone "shouldn't play the video". It will still play the video, the app will still output the video at 4k, but the user will 'see' a max of 1440p, because there are not enough physical pixels on the device to 'see' 4K. "Highest supported resolution" here means the highest resolution of the display. Its just a confusing usage of words. 4K shot on the S22 Ultra plays at 4K, but the user 'sees' it at 1440p.

OR

The app shown here does not support output at 4K in the given device, because as you already said, YouTube can play 4K easily, so it may come down to a matter of device support.

For your Nb, slightly better video and audio is because of the bitrate, I know for a fact that you know that.

Yes, ofcourse the user can only see the video at the max hardware resolution of the display. But, all I am saying is that a flagship should support playing the video at the max available settings even if the improvement in quality is slight(bit rate).
So, the optimisation should be better by coordinating with the popular app developers.

I commented because you seemed to be of the opinion that it doesn't matter that the phone is not supporting 4k. IMO it does matter because people are paying the premium for this kind of cutting edge tech support. So, the device should be able to squeeze in the max available quality.

Well, we were just sharing opinions, so it's cool that we can agree. 😇
