Samsung has three flagship lineups – Galaxy Note, Galaxy S, and Galaxy Z series. The Galaxy Note phones come with the S Pen support alongside a dedicated slot, the Galaxy S lineup equips massive camera capabilities, while the Galaxy Z series is the family of foldable smartphones.
Following its tradition, the Korean tech giant has launched the Galaxy S flagship – Galaxy S21 series back in January 2021. On the other hand, it looks like the new Galaxy Note series will not be launched this year, reports Korean media.
According to the latest information, Samsung will not launch the new Galaxy Note series (Galaxy Note 21) phones in the second half of this year. It doesn’t mean, the company is discontinuing the Note lineup, but the next Galaxy Note phone will be launched in 2022 and the timing is not confirmed.
At the 52nd regular shareholders’ meeting, Dong-jin Ko, head of the information technology and mobile communications (IM) division of Samsung Electronics said “the S Pen was implemented on the ‘Galaxy S21 Ultra’. It is difficult to release the note series in the second half of the year as two can be a burden.”
However, the Galaxy Note models equip a large screen and stylus pen support, and due to the launching of Galaxy Z series and the diversification of the ‘Galaxy S series’, there was no end to the discontinuation of the Galaxy Notes.
“It is not that we do not release new products. The timing may vary, but next year we are preparing to continue to do so,” says CEO Ko.
It is worth mentioning that the company official said that Samsung is not ending the Galaxy Note series, but the Note 21 series will not be introduced this year due to the current semiconductor shortage. There have been no problems so far, but the second quarter is different.
“The disparity between the supply of parts and demand in the information technology (IT) side is severe. “We are checking the parts supply problem every morning. It is difficult to say that it is 100% resolved. It is a bit of a problem in the second quarter. We will report as a result so that there is no business disruption” Said CEO Ko.
